The Tool Is Not The Teacher
The tool is not the teacher.
There are tools that make waves in wood. The heart of a tree, chiseled and tamed, transformed from a simple solid to a static shape that feels like motionless mayhem. The tool is not the teacher, it is an instrument, made by hands, made for hands.
It's easy to see the relationship between hands and tangible tools. Speech is also our gift, written words our heritage. Music is a mysterious and magical medium, rising from within us, eager to breath its own breath; taking in oxygen, coming to life by us. Ceramics spring forth from a spinning plane, but only when the hands agree. Bread is born from grain and life, kneaded by the need. Left to rise, rolled and ringed, all by intention and attention.
The point is this: real art starts with a beating heart.
There are no benefits gained or betterment attained by handing the beautiful parts of our creativity to a blinking cursor. The effort, the pain, the flow, the fury: these are the flames that feed us and leave us alive and on fire. We cannot trade the wonders of inspiration for expediency. Time and an inspired soul are always needed to make beautiful things grow.
You can prompt and wait or you can ponder and work. Do not let your inheritance be taken away by a soulless prediction machine. It is not a cheat; it is a charlatan's charlatan. We will be here when it is gone. There are cups in your homes right now that will outlive this latest false savior. Savor your sanity and keep those hands in motion.
